These strawberries look so good I could almost eat them. But I would be getting a mouth full of sand! I just love these little pincushions. Every time I go into a quilt shop I'm immediately drawn to the Moda fabric. They have turnovers and jelly rolls - now I'm starting to get hungery - Just kidding. If you have never seen how Moda packages their fabric then you probably have no idea what I'm talking about. They sell packs of precut fabrics in triangles, squares and other shapes. They cleverly named their packs as tempting dessert treats. These pincushions were made from their fabric "turnovers." Won't these make cute stocking stuffers for your sewing friends. The Moda "Bakeshop" has lots of easy sewing patterns. Don't forget to check out the strawberry pincushion patter.
This weekend I went to the best quilt shop ever - Keepsake Quilting. My quilter's guild, CVQG, organized a bus trip to Keepsake Quilting and to The Lady's of the Lake Quilt show. We had a great time and the bus ride went by fast because I had great company!
I finally figured out how to make a sewn tutu. At first I tried to make a tied tutu but I didn't like the end results. So after a lot of research on the internet I came up with this design. This tutu is made up of only 3 layers of tulle. I think my next ones will have 4 layers to make them fluffier. This tutu has a waistband and it wraps around and ties in the back. I decided to make the wrapped tutu because I want a "one size fits all" tutu. My little ballerina loved it and she even had to wear it during her ballet class. I'm working on a tutorial and hopefully I will have it for sale on my etsy site in a month or so. (Too much going on right now to really focus on the tutorial.)
I love these mdf cut out from Say It With Letters. She has the cutes things in her shop. I purchased the dress forms and transformed them into the sweetest bow holders. I painted the back white and embellished the front with scrapbook papers. To add some flair, I attached some felt flowers and rhinestones. There are strips of grosgrain ribbon attached to the bottom to hold all your little girl's hairbows. This bow holder was a great way to keep our clips organized. I still have two more dress forms to create. While our local craft store was going out of business, I snatched up some really cute scrapbooking papers. Can't wait to keep crafting.
It's hard to belive that my new craft room was once our garage. I can't tell you how many hours I spent trying to figure out the best furniture to put in my new room. I finally decided to purchase a whole wall of Ikea bookcases with doors. I filled it up really fast with all of my fabric, ribbons and crafting supplies. My quilting friend was actually surprised at how little fabric I have. The center island works great for working on projects and I can display some of my hair bows at the same time. Over the years I have always wanted a place to store my wrapping paper and my new map chest was the perfect solution. I still have to work on my sewing table but that will come in time. It has been so nice moving my craft room to the main floor of the house. No more basement crafting for me!
